7. Antibacterial claims. If the manufacturer or brand makes an antibacterial claim on packaging, ask for ISO 20743 or JIS L 1902 test results against the specific construction. Marketing claims that are not backed by test reports on the exact SKU can run into trouble with regulators in the EU and California.
8. Certifications relevant to your retail channel. For EU and Nordic retail, GOTS-certified bamboo is increasingly the expected standard (the GOTS scope covers bamboo as a certified fiber). For the US, third-party chemical-safety testing reports on the finished SKU are usually sufficient. For private-label ecommerce, a credible supply-chain story is often enough. Make sure the manufacturer knows which standard your buyer requires.
9. MOQ and sampling discipline. Stock yarn in standard colors should be available at 500 pairs per design for private label. Custom dye-lot colors push minimums to 1,000-3,000 pairs. Custom jacquard logos or packaging push minimums further. A manufacturer that quotes 5,000 pairs as a baseline for stock yarn is either hiding margin or running inefficient small-lot operations.
10. Lead time and reorder cadence. Standard bamboo sock lead time is 45-60 days from sample approval for orders under 10,000 pairs. Many brands run bamboo as a complement to organic cotton rather than a replacement.
